Croque Mein Herr

If you like cheese and you like sauerkraut, you’ll love this.

You won’t believe how easy is.

  • Slice your bread
  • Toast it ( a bit more on one side than the other )
  • Butter the not-done-quite-so-much side
  • Spread some sauerkraut on top
  • pop it back under the grill for a few minutes to warm through
  • slice some cheese and put it on top of the sauerkraut ( An alternative here would be to grate your cheese, mix it with a little cream and some wholegrain mustard before putting it on top of the sauerkraut )
  • sprinkle some pul biber ( or your other favourite chilli ) on top
  • pop under a grill until the cheese is bubbling.

  1. Fab idea, Kev! Wonder if the stocks of Sauerkraut on the shelves here in Germany are now ausverkauft though…
