Christmas and everything after.

So, as usual, Christmas arrived slightly before I was ready even though I’ve been out of work for a while and have had plenty of time to get ready.

One thing I always like to do though is to have a some plans as to what we are likely to be eating over Christmas, and make sure that the fridge and freezer is groaning under the weight.

I won’t bore you with what we ate, it’s probably very similar to what you had.

After Christmas, in line with everyone else, I decided that we were going to eat less meat in 2020. Who doesn’t like a bandwagon to jump on to?

We don’t eat meat every day anyway, but I just wanted to stop the default being ‘I’ll get those sausages out of the freezer’ and have them with some pasta.

So, its going quite well. I’ve been going through some of my cookbooks ( see January’s Cookbook of the month ), plus I got Rick Stein’s Secret France book as a present.

Having the time off helps, as it means I can plan ahead, and have got the hour or so it seems to take me to cook most things. It also means that I can avoid Saturdays when shopping.

I’m not going to retrospectively put everything we’ve eaten on here, but I’ll try and do it going forward.

What a treat for anyone who stumbles on this.
